ALTAR




ALTAR

NURSING HOME SERMON, SAT. 3-14-2009

I. ALTAR- SALV. ARMY – MERCY SEAT....WHERE HAVE ALL THE ALTARS GONE IN OUR CHURCHES?OH FOR A GOOD ALTAR SERVICE WHERE WE TARRY AND PRAY AFTER THE CHURCH SERCICE.
ALTAR: COSTLY MEETING PLACE WITH GOD-- 2 Samuel 24:24-26।

(a)। 24 But the king replied to Araunah, "No, I insist on paying you for it। I will not sacrifice to the LORD my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing।" So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen and paid fifty shekels

[b] of silver for them. (THE COOST AT THE ALTAR...)25 David built an altar to The LORD there and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings.

[c] Then the LORD answered prayer in behalf of the land, and the plague on Israel was stopped। Genesis 12:7 Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, I will give this land to your posterity। So Abram built an altar there to the Lord, Who had appeared to him। Genesis 35 :3 Then let us arise and go up to Bethel, and I will make there an altar to God Who answered me in the day of my distress and was with me wherever I went।


II। DEFINE ALTAR, OR TO ALTOR --- A PLACE TO CHANGE, ALTOR। WHERE WE REPENT, GROW CHANGE॥BUILD AN ALTAR- A PLACE TO MEET GOD, SEEK GOD, DISCUSSION IN DEEP DISCISSIONS WITH GOD'S DIRECTION, COMFORT PLACE,FELLOWSHIP, TESTAMONY, MEMORIAL, OFFERING, DEATH, SACRIFICE।ALSO;------Altar --(Heb। Mizbe'ah, from a word meaning "to slay"), any structure of earth (Ex। 20:24) or unwrought stone (20:25) on which sacrifices were offered। Altars were generally erected in conspicuous places (Gen। 22:9; Ezek। 6:3; 2 Kings 23:12; 16:4; 23:8; Acts 14:13). The word is used in Heb. 13:10 for the sacrifice offered upon it--the sacrifice Christ offered.


III. COST- DAVID SAID --"I WILL NOT OFFER TO GOD THAT WHICH COST ME NOTHING..." 2 Samuel 24:24-26.
